This marks my 100th blog post! I hope you all (whoever you are) have enjoyed this blog because to be honest...I really didn't think I'd ever make it to 100. But here we are, and I still have stuff to say and share...lucky you!
We have a couple of "projects" going on around here. Up first, the last 2 rooms of our complete overhaul of this house are being finished! We hadn't really forgotten about these rooms but just decided to take a break from all the dirt, dust, and mayhem (at least the construction kind of dirt, dust and mayhem) and we literally just shut the door to the guest bedroom and bathroom and pretended it didn't exist. Doesn't everyone "deal with" things by pretending they don't exist? No? Just us? Anyway...here's where we are with the room.
New exterior walls built (thanks to old termite damage), new wiring, new insulation, and drywall. Next up, tap, mud, and finish the drywall, then the fun stuff!
I'm a little (ok, a lot) embarrassed to call this next thing a project but...it's more in line with my scale of projects as opposed to Josh's scale (see above). I'm learning to make bread. Like the kind where you make the dough, let it rise, and bake it! I know...it's crazy! This is not the kind of bread making where you open the can of biscuits or remove the bread from the freezer. I'm a pro at those already.
So, here's the proof:
Dough
The dough 12 hours later
The finished product.
Ok, don't get weirded out about the big crater in the top. This bread was a lemon blueberry variety and that's just what happened to the blueberries. This kind of bread you bake in a cast iron dutch oven.
It was pretty
good for my first attempt. But, lessons learned include: 1) If you're
going to call it lemon blueberry, add more lemon. 2) When you eat a
bread called lemon blueberry, you expect it (or at least I do) to be a
little sweet. Thus, add more honey. 3) If you eat bread that you expect
to be sweet but isn't...add some of this on it.
For my next trick, I'm trying Gruyere and rosemary bread. Fingers crossed!
And because I KNOW you don't come here to read about home renovations and homemade bread...
and one of my new favorites...
Anyone taking bets that I can keep up the blog to reach 200 posts? Yeah, me neither!
P.S. Leave a comment and let me know there are people actually reading this stuff!
