Hadley had a great day on her birthday! It was filled with story hour at the library, a play date with a friend, blowing out candles on a birthday cake, eating a delicious meal that her dad made for her, and playing with new toys.
Although this picture is blurry, it's still pretty cute.
But that's pretty much where the fun ended. The next morning was her 2 year doctor checkup. Just so we're clear, Hadley is NOT a fan of going to the doctor. Not even going to their parking lot.
She started telling me that she didn't want to go inside the building when we pulled in the parking spot. Then, once we walked in, it got worse. We waited just a few minutes in the waiting room...just long enough for her to calm down...then we were called back. Then the floodgates opened and the hysteria set in. I mean, it was bad. Pretty much anytime there was anyone in the room with us she was upset. And it was even worse if someone was touching her. Let me be clear, she did not receive any shots but still acted as if she got 20 shots all at once.
So she sat like this on me for most of the visit. But even that wasn't a comfort to her. Thankfully, she isn't scheduled to go back until she's 3. Hopefully we can work in a few books about how not all visits to the doctor are bad. We have our work cut out for us.
After that experience, I needed a nap.
