Business as Usual

Monday night it was business as usual.

Lot's of playing.

Some crawling
(I love how she takes a little break on her long journey.)

A little piano playing.

 Some kissing.

And even some goofing around!

Here's Hadley throwing herself onto Bella and Cane's bed.

And again.

While We Were Gone

So Hadley spent time with some of her grandparents while we were gone to the lake. She gave us a quick safety lesson on camping and being "prepared" (as the book title suggests) and waved goodbye before her fun filled weekend.

Although we think we know what she did while we were gone:

Some fun bath time maybe?

Some fun time eating and drinking, I'm sure.

Or maybe she read her favorite book?

She might of even worked in a nap or two (or hopefully four)??

But does one really ever know what happens with their child when the child is with the grandparents??

Maybe some pool time?

Or maybe some fun time learning about horses?

Or maybe some shoe shopping?

Or maybe just some good old fashion laughing?

Who knows?

Lake Time

This past weekend we went to the lake with some friends...including Bella and Cane.

Once we worked out who was driving and who was going to ride shotgun, everything was fine.

Once we got to the camp site, we took some time to setup the camper and Cane took some time to run laps, you know, because that's what you do when it's 900 degrees outside...silly dog.

Then we made it out onto the lake.

We let them out on the shore so they could do their business and walk around a bit.  This is about as much as Bella would (willingly) get in the lake.

As it turns out, Cane is an amazing swimmer.  He loves it!  Bella, not so much.  Not sure how that happened since she's part Lab (we think) but she's a mature lady that knows what she likes and swimming isn't it. Unfortunately, I didn't get a video of Cane actually swimming since I was usually in the water with him. It's too cute not to capture and I'm kicking myself that I didn't. Next time, I promise.

Cane tried his paw at knee boarding...

...and did pretty good just chilling on the board with some help balancing, of course.

This is what a happy, hot, tired Cane looks like.

I feel a little bad about not getting a lot of pictures of Bella this weekend but, like I mentioned before, Bella knows what she wants and she doesn't really enjoy the spotlight which is COMPLETELY opposite of Cane. He pretty much begs me to take his picture.

And yes, if anyone is wondering, Cane had sunscreen on so he wouldn't get burnt...thanks Louise!

How to use a Walker

So, I realize most people think they know how to use a walker. But Hadley has other ideas. She no longer believes that she should actually sit in the walker but rather stand up and hold on to it. See her technique below:

Then she cruises on over to her dresser to stand for a while.

And when she gets tired of standing...she has other options.

A for Effort

A couple of nights ago Hadley and I were in her room playing.  Well, I was actually putting the bedding back on her bed after her dad lowered her mattress.  So, while I was doing that, this is how she kept busy.

Then I remembered that we needed to take a picture of Hadley and her dad in honor of Father's Day.  Well, unfortunately, that didn't go so well. For starters, Hadley, Cane, and Bella helped make him a shirt for Father's Day.  Too bad I didn't get the right size.  But he was a good sport and put it on anyway. Then he picked up Hadley and apparently she was still in play mode and not picture taking mode.

But we did try. And here's the shirt. I really only got it as a way to remember the moment and never really expected him to actually wear it (good thing).

As you can imagine, I had a good team of helpers to get the hand/paw prints on this shirt!  Thanks for the help Mimi, Poppy, and Lucy! In order of difficulty it goes: Hadley most difficult (but really, she was pretty good), followed by Cane (who was very easy), followed by Bella (who pretty much did her own paw print)!

Playtime

Here's Hadley playing/reading her books.
(she's a speed reader...unlike her mama)

And here she is playing with Cane.

Busy Weekend, Part 2

If our Saturday was busy, then our Sunday was really busy.

We got up early.  Hadley had a bottle and immediately wanted to practice walking.

Then we got ready and went to church.

Then her morning nap.  As evident by the picture below, she woke up a very happy girl!

Then we went out to my mom's for a late birthday lunch celebration for me.

Beef tenderloin, salmon, marinaded asparagus, deviled eggs, potato salad, and onions and cucumbers in vinegar! Yum!

Everyone was happy about that meal!

Even Bella and Cane.

My favorite, lemon jello cake!

And because my sister and I have almost always had joint birthday celebrations, she had some candles to blow out too.  She took that opportunity to let Hadley practice on blowing out candles since it will be her turn in a couple short months!

Then we all came home and crashed for an afternoon nap.

Then we had more Father's Day celebration with a delicious cookout.  I was clearly too engrossed by food and Hadley to take any pictures.  Sorry.

Once we got home, we got ready for bed and Hadley found a new spot that's just right for her.

I also failed to get a picture of Hadley and her dad on this special day.  Don't worry, we'll recreate the special moment.  Standby for a picture or two.
